Set against the backdrop of the international 1977 'Save the Whale' protests in Albany Western Australia, Pilgrims of the Sea traces the story of the last year of whaling in the entire English speaking world. Written from the perspectives of both the whales and humans, the opera explores the fine line between compassion and financial gain. Pilgrims of the Sea is a story about whales which ultimately tells us more about humans.
